We have incredible pride in the way our children grow into adulthood as responsible members of the Jewish community.  We deeply invest in their ability to be a confident participant and leader in communal life.  We guide them to achieve more than they believe themselves to be capable of.  That capability is different for each student, and we work to create a process that makes sense and includes everyone.  No student is excluded because of whatever difficulties may be in their life, and no student leaves the process without overcoming challenges.

Our children begin to prepare for adulthood as soon as they enter our formal and informal education program, but the process intensifies for the year prior to their Bar or Bat Mitzvah.  Our talented team of Klei Kodesh devotes significant individual attention to each of our upcoming B’nai Mitzvah students.

The first primary component of our ritual is acquiring the skill to fully participate in all aspects of a Shabbat morning service. Generally this includes learning how to recite Haftarah, Torah and leading other blessings.  Cantor Sharon Nathanson directs this process.

The second primary component is the process of developing a personal relationship to Torah, deriving meaning from our ancient text that is relevant to life today.
