Bride and Groom of the Torah

Anne and Rick Mazur are our 5782 Bride and Groom of the Torah. Rick is a second-generation member of BA and Anne joined along with their three sons (David, Benjamin and Joshua) when the family moved to St. Louis from Maryland. Anne was first introduced to B’nai Amoona when she met former BA Cantor, Hazzan Renzer, who assisted Rabbi Skop in officiating their wedding. Both Anne and Rick have served as board members.

After Rick’s father passed away, he found comfort and support while attending Minyan. He has been a Minyanaire for 21 years now and leads Davening on Sunday mornings. He particularly looks forward to the Sundays when there is a Pre-Bar or Bat Mitzvah Participation and the Worldwide Wraps on Superbowl Sunday. Rick can also be found volunteering in Chef Jon’s kitchen because preparing and eating good food is a passion of his.

Almost everyone at B’nai Amoona refers to Anne as “Morah Anne” because she taught in the BA Early Childhood Center for 31 years. Anne retired from teaching at the end of the 2020-2021 school year saying that she “finally graduated,” but you will still find her helping at the preschool library, which is her passion. Rick says he’s amazed at the number of parents that recognize Anne outside of B’nai Amoona and still address her as Morah Anne. Anne, when she is able, enjoy’s Rabbi Neal Rose’s “Thinking Person’s Judaism” class where Rick is also a regular.

Rick and Anne are humbled and grateful to be selected for this honor and look forward to seeing everyone at Simchat Torah.
