THE DETAILS:
Mitzvah Day is for the entire Congregation!
It is also the Last Day of MKLC!
Parents and students should come together!
No MKLC classes - students should sign up for projects instead!

 

Mitzvah Day Schedule - Sunday, May 5, 2024:
9:00 am Minyan Begins
9:45 am Breakfast Begins (not mandatory, but definitely yummy!)
10:00 am: Welcome & Opening Ceremony Honoring Harvey Greenstein
10:25 am: Projects Begin (sign up below!)

This year's projects:

Family Haven and Crisis Nursery
Come create sack lunches for the clients of Family Haven and help make toiletry bags for the families of Crisis Nursery. Recommended for Adults and Children Kindergarten and older.

Foster and Adoptive Care Coalition
Come decorate canvas bags and pillow cases for youth in foster care. These bags provide them a way to transport their belongings and the pillow cases are a way to give them a small gift of their own. Recommended for Adults and youth ages 3rd grade and above.

Soup and Challah Brigade
Come help make Soup and Challah for the B'nai Amoona Freezers to be distributed to Congregants in Needs: Recommended for Ages Adults and 2nd Grade Youth and Older.

Lasagna Love
Come learn and cook with Barbara Kramer about this wonderful organization whose mission is to make and deliver lasagnas to families in need of some extra love and kindness. We will be making lasagnas to distribute.  Recommended for Adults and Children age Kindergarten and older.

Gateway 180 and Harvey Kornblum Jewish Food Pantry
Come make Snack Bags for the residents at Gateway 180 shelter and Create Birthdays in a Bag for the Harvey Kornblum Food Pantry. Recommended for Kindergarten and older: A small project for those who are in need of a simple experience.

First Responders and Peter and Paul Shelter
We will be making snack kits and support sacks for First Responders and Survival Bags for Peter and Paul Shelter. Recommended for Adults and Youth age 2nd grade and above.

 

Little Hands, Big Hearts!
Help Decorate Kindness Rocks for the children at Ranken Jordan, and help make Arts and Craft Kits for the Children at Children’s Hospital: Recommended for Early Childhood thru 2nd grade

Shriners Hospital - Sponsored by Tov M'od and Habonim Chavurah Groups
Help make fleece blankets for the Children of Shriners Hospital Recommended for Adults and Youth Ages 5th Grade and Above

Children’s Hospital
Help sew and create dolls and other "Love items' for children at the hospital: Recommended for 3rd grade and older. You must be able to follow simple sewing directions. **Sisterhood Project, though all are welcome.

Congregation B’nai Amoona
Come help us beautify our Congregation.  Most projects will be outside including working with flower beds, painting, and other areas of our campus.  Recommended for Adults and Second Grade and older.

Desks for Success
Come help build “Desks for Success” for high school students in under-resourced areas who do not have desks to do their homework. Join Dr. David Kantor for this meaningful project using the wood from our old Chapel *Men's Club and Adults and Middle school.

Camp Rainbow
Come make Taylor Swift Friendship bracelets for the campers of Camp Rainbow, a camp for children with cancer and those that support them. Recommended for Adults and youth 2nd grade and older.
