Congregation B’nai Amoona Chaverim – Shalom and Shavua Tov!
It is with heavy hearts that we write to you in the aftermath of the horrific shootings at Tree of Life-Or L'Simcha Synagogue in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. We extend our deepest condolences to the victims of this brutal attack and pray that the Almighty will bless them with comfort and consolation. Min HaShamayim Tenuchamu! May we all be comforted from Above!
In addition, we express our profound sense of gratitude to the brave first responders, especially our brave policemen and women, who risked their lives to enter the Shul in an attempt to avoid additional casualties. May our Heavenly Parent bless each of them with continued strength and vigor. Todah Rabbah! We are all eternally in their debt!
As always, our Shul is a safe-haven and a sanctuary. BA places the safety, security, and wellbeing of our students and families as our number one priority. Please rest reassured in knowing that your BA leadership is in constant communication with the local police department, our Synagogue’s security consultants, as well as the Jewish Federation regarding issues of safety and security at B’nai Amoona and the greater Jewish Community. We value these essential partnerships as they help us determine the necessary steps towards providing a continued safe environment for our congregational family and all who enter our facility.
It is often challenging to find the correct words to share with our children at such difficult moments. Below, please find several websites to reference that may be of assistance in this process.
For those who are interested, please feel free to join us tomorrow morning, Sunday, October 28, at 9:15 am, for an open discussion in the Mendelson Library. Several of our Klei Kodesh, Staff, and Lay leadership will be present to answer your questions and concerns. In addition, your BA Klei Kodesh and Educators remain available for private conversations and support. Please do not hesitate to reach out to any of us.
Please note that we will have security onsite for the foreseeable future.
We know that you all join us in praying for peace as we recall the words of the words of the Psalmist (122:7): “Yehee Shalom BeChaylech, Shalvah BeArmenotayich - May there be peace within your walls, security within your gates.”
