So much is happening at B’nai Amoona these days. As we enter a new calendar year, we want to share an end of the year construction update with you. According to Andy Schwebel, our Executive Director, we are currently meeting our scheduled timelines, and will continue to work hard to maintain our on-time progress.
Our main goal during this project has been to keep everyone safe and continue to give our students the love and support they need. Our Atideynu (Capital) Campaign has several goals; building improvements, security, safety, technology, and communication systems. The construction company has created a plan to limit disruptions within the building if everything goes as scheduled, we will be able to start our 2019-20 school year in August in our newly updated rooms. However, we have to remember, flexibility is key in case things don’t go as planned.
The plan is as follows:
In order to create a shared bathroom between rooms 2 and 4 and update the pipes and ECC bathrooms, we will not have use of room 2/3, 4/5, our activity center or our ECC bathroom for the months of April and May. Therefore, Rooms 2/3 and 4/5 will be moving to the toddler hall.
Room 2/3 will move to Room 23,
Room 26 will move to room 24
Room 4/5 will move to Room 26.
We will be adopting the Chapel or room 17/18 as our activity center
We will be using the bathrooms closest to rooms 23-26.
We will use the BA dairy kitchen for all cooking activities.
Camp will be fabulous lasting 8 weeks and 2 days!
Camp will be held at Whitfield School which is across Mason Road. By agreeing to this move, the contractors will be able to get the work done all at once without disrupting the ECC’s daily rhythm and thus, diminish the number of times rooms need to shift. We are preparing carpool, safety and communication systems and will have those systems in place before our camp staff training.
We will move across the street between May 30 and June 4
The first day of camp will be Wednesday, June 5.
We are amending our end of the school year calendar.
Our last day will now be May 29 (as opposed to the original date of May 23).
Move days/camp staff training days will be May 30 - June 4.
Graduation remains on Thursday, May 23 with a special Lag B’Omer celebration.
The first day of camp is June 5!
Our new camp dates are June 5 – Aug. 2.
The last day of camp is on August 2.
During the week of August 5th, we will be getting everything moved and put into place, as well as spend much needed time learning together as a team.
Our 2019-20 school year begins on August 12.
