Yesterday, the Creve Coeur Police Department alerted us of a bomb threat sent by email to Congregation Shaare Emeth. The police immediately identified the email as a ransomware phishing email, and not a credible threat.
Nothing is more important than the safety of every person who enters our campus. As the only synagogue in Missouri with a Jewish Community School on the same property, we will continue to work very closely with the Saul Mirowitz Jewish Community School and the Jewish Federation to protect our entire campus.
Two years ago, our Congregational President, Andrew Oberman, along with the construction committee, procured a Threat Assessment for our facilities two years ago, in coordination with the St. Louis Jewish Federation and their security specialist, Scott Biondo. This process included an evaluation of our readiness and ability to deter any potential threat. Recommendations from this assessment are being implemented in the capital campaign construction process.
At the November Board of Trustees meeting, the President created a special Security Committee to further evaluate our security needs and procedures. Subsequently, we obtained a second threat assessment by Scott Biondo just last week. In addition, Brant Miederhoff, a B’nai Amoona member and security specialist for the Department of Defense, as well as other specialists from across the country, are contributing to the development of our comprehensive security plans. These plans include both physical standards and safety procedures we can implement in case of an emergency.
Please be assured that the safety of our entire Kehillah is our highest priority. As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me or Andrew Oberman at askoberman@gmail.com or 314-603-0010.
Warmest regards,
