Rabbi Sydni Adler
Rabbi Sydni grew up in Agoura Hills, California, grounded by the strong Jewish identity found at various Jewish summer camps, her Reform religious school, and her Bubbie’s raucous dining room table on Rosh Hashanah. After entering Swarthmore College with the dream of becoming a concert pianist, Rabbi Sydni’s plans were shifted by her newfound interests in Jewish text study and conversation about God. At Swarthmore, she was inspired by her classes in Judaism and Hebrew Bible, her interfaith work, and her tenure as President of her small but mighty Hillel. For two years after college, Rabbi Sydni headed to Pardes Institute of Jewish Studies in Jerusalem, where she learned a wide array of Jewish text for hours each day. At Pardes, Rabbi Sydni discovered Halakhah, Jewish law, as the ultimate road towards a loving relationship with God. With her excitement about access to traditional Jewish practice for all genders, she knew that the Conservative movement would be her new home.
In the past five years of rabbinical school, Rabbi Sydni has fallen in love with helping individuals and communities towards their most authentic relationships with God. She has worked and volunteered with all ages at B’nai B’rith Camp in coastal Oregon, IKAR and other spiritual communities in Los Angeles, and for the past three years, Ohr Shalom Synagogue in San Diego, California. When she teaches, preaches, and offers pastoral care, she combines textual analysis with questioning, conversation, and hands-on experience. She especially enjoys presenting ideas about women and Halakhah, self care from a Jewish perspective, and Biblical notions of love of God. In her spare time, Rabbi Sydni practices and teaches yoga, plays Chopin on the piano, and peruses local farmers markets for colorful produce. She and her fiancé Rabbi Feivel are truly excited to explore St. Louis and to meet the warm, passionately Jewish community of B’nai Amoona.
Rabbi Feivel Rubinstein
Born and raised in Santa Monica, California, Rabbi Feivel Rubinstein owes much of his love of Jewish life to his childhood experiences at Camp Ramah in California and in USY. When he went off to the University of Colorado at Boulder, he found a home in the local Jewish community, as he became involved in AEPi, Hillel, the JCC, and several local synagogues. In Colorado, he found his passion for Jewish education and spent the next decade working as a teacher, youth director, Torah reader, service leader, and camp counselor. After graduating with a degree in Music, Rabbi Feivel turned his attention towards the rabbinate and enrolled at the Ziegler School of Rabbinic Studies in Los Angeles, where he met his now fiancé Rabbi Sydni Adler. He has spent the last six years working as an educator in the Los Angeles Jewish community while serving as the Director of Ritual and Prayer at Camp Ramah in California. Described as “a camp counselor by constitution and trade”, Rabbi Feivel looks forward to his new adventure with his soon-to-be wife as well as continuing his work inspiring youth and adults to use God and Judaism towards becoming the best versions of themselves.
