Torah Fund 5780 - Wear Your Pin During High Holy Days
The 5780 (2019-2020) Torah Fund pin depicts a heart surrounded by three circles, one larger than the next. This symbolizes the heart of kindness, which Jews enact in ever-widening realms of generosity: from family, to community, to larger world: from North America, to Israel, to the world; or from sisterhood, to region, to the larger world of Women’s League of Conservative Judaism. And as it is said in Psalm 89, may we build a world of kindness.

Mussar Blues - A Special Evening of Music to Elevate Your Soul
Thursday, August 29, 2019 at 7:00pm, Jewish Federation, 12 Millstone Campus Drive 63146 Joyful, bluesy music is a powerful tool that can engrave Mussar teachings deep into the heart. Mussar Blues uses singing to change our perspective, habits, and behavior. The words show how to be a mensch. Blues style gives the words energy and emotion, which carry the message to the soul.
Rick Dinitz has been creating Mussar Blues to use in his personal spiritual practice since 2005, and sharing these songs and chants in the Mussar community since 2010. His mission “is to make this music and this practice widely available, to share Mussar chanting as a tool for self-refinement, and to promote Mussar as a down-to-earth spiritual path.” Mussar Blues infuses the wisdom of Mussar masters with the infectious energy of Blues, Jazz, and Soul, amplifying the power of a classic Jewish tool for reshaping our inner traits. Sing these songs aloud. Engrave their message in your heart as a tool for personal change.
To learn more about Rick Dinitz, Mussar chanting, and the unique qualities of Mussar Blues go to MussarBlues.com RSVP to Kathy Schmeltz, kschmeltz@jfedstl.org or 314-442-3761 For additional information contact Cyndee Levy, clevy@Jfedstl.org, 314-442-3754 Free and Open To All!!

Seeking Community Gatekeepers
Jewish Family & Children’s Service is seeking “community connectors” to serve as Gatekeepers for vulnerable seniors. A Gatekeeper helps keep an eye out for relatives, neighbors, or friends who may be struggling with the challenges of aging. The JF&CS team will reach out to and work with these identified seniors one-on-one to develop a plan that helps them maintain independence, confidence, and a sense of connection to the local community. If you are interested in learning more about how you can serve as a gatekeeper, or if know of someone who could benefit from senior support, please reach out to Ken Schwartz at 314-812-9320 or kschwartz@jfcs-stl.org .
