We will welcome Sister Carla Mae Streeter, Dominican of the Congregation of Catherine of Sienain.
Next Saturday also marks the start of Jewish Theological Seminary Weekend. On JTS Shabbat, Novemer 23, Rabbi Carnie Shalom Rose, Cantor Sharon Nathanson, Rabbi Neal Rose, and Rabbi Josef Davidson will facilitate a round table discussion and share reflections on the teachings of the faculty of the JTS, including Professor Yochanan Muffs, Professor Nachum Sarna, & Professor Neil Gillman.
You are invited back the following day, Novemeber 24 at 10:15 am for A Thinking Person's Judaism with special guest, Dr. Marjorie Lehman, Associate Professor of Talmud and Rabbinics at the Jewish Theological Seminary who brings us, You Never Call, You Never Write!: Breaking the Negative Stereotypes of Jewish Motherhood.

Adult Education Updates
A Thinking Person's Judaism returns THIS Sunday, November 17 at 10:30 am, for a special morning of study. The CJLS is sponsoring the International Seminar for Halakhic Study, a day on which Conservative/Masorti communities will come together to study a specific Teshuvah of the CJLS. B'nai Amoona will be participating through A Thinking Person's Judaism class facilitated by Rabbi Neal. The purpose of the Seminar is to show how our spiritual values and ethical ideals shape our Halakhic practice, to emphasize the importance of Halakhah and the study of Halakhah among Conservative/Masorti Jews, and to create a sense of a world-wide community among Conservative/Masorti congregations and schools. ALL ARE WELCOME!

Social Action
Cheshvan is adopted as “Social Action Month" We will be collecting pull tabs from cans to help Ronald McDonald House and use this as part of our Mitzvah Day project. We will also start collecting toys, gloves, and hats for the Carver House Wrap in December. Look for upcoming announcments to see what the Social Action Committee is doing. *NEW* Social Action Collection Center Please check the new Social Action Collection Center to the right of the receptionist’s desk near the main entrance. Remember, hunger is a year-round problem, so please bring non-perishable food, paper goods, and toiletries to our collection center whenever you come to Shul.
The Social Action Committee is also collecting aluminum tabs from cans to help Ronald McDonald House, a place that offers a home away from home for families of seriously ill children. Look for the jar next to the collection center.
Carver House Donations
The Social Action Committee and the Men's Club are collecting new, unwrapped toys, gloves, hats, and scarves for the Carver House Wrap on December 15. We are collecting for toddlers to teens. Please leave your items in the social action collection bins in the coat closet to the right of the receptionist's desk. Mark your calendars to join us on Sunday December 15 at 10 AM to help wrap the presents; no experience is necessary.
Concert to Benefit Social Action
Twelfth Annual Eleonore and Dr. Herman Blumenthal Memorial Concert to benefit the Social Action Committee at Congregation B’nai Amoona with Fred Blumenthal on piano, assisted by Friends - This Sunday afternoon, November 17th, 2019 at 2:00 pm. Dr. Fred Blumenthal, who is founder of Meshorerim, a Jewish men’s singing group, will perform a concert in memory of his parents, Eleonore and Dr. Herman Blumenthal, at Congregation B’nai Amoona on Sunday, November 17th at 2:00 pm. The performance will include vocal solos, piano solos, and music for women’s and men’s choruses. No ticket cost, but a suggested $18 donation to Social Action is encouraged. Book Club B'nai Amoona's Sisterhood has a Book Club that we share with Kol Rinah's Sisterhood. Meetings are on the 4th Thursday of each month at the St. Louis County Library Headquarters on Lindbergh Blvd (across from Plaza Frontenac) from 10:00 - 11:30 am. New members are always welcome! You do not need to attend every month, just come when you can, nor is it required that you have read (or finished reading) the book selection for the month!

Olivette's 6th Annual Turkey Trot Olivette’s 6th Annual 5K Turkey Trot is a chip timed event with over 1,400 participants! This family-friendly 5k run/walk course starts at Stacy Park, runs down scenic Old Bonhomme Road and then through a paved, tree-lined trail, ending at Stacy Park. Long sleeve Tech T-shirts, entertainment, refreshments and giveaways make the race a fun way to start your Thanksgiving Day! All proceeds benefit the Harvey Kornblum Food Pantry. Jewish Family & Children’s Service is seeking “community connectors” to serve as Gatekeepers for vulnerable seniors. A Gatekeeper helps keep an eye out for relatives, neighbors, or friends who may be struggling with the challenges of aging. The JF&CS team will reach out to and work with these identified seniors one-on-one to develop a plan that helps them maintain independence, confidence, and a sense of connection to the local community.
