We at Congregation B’nai Amoona are excited to announce we are once again participating in the community Shinshinim program. A “shinshin” is an 18-year-old Israeli emissary who defers their army service for one year to volunteer in Jewish communities abroad with the goal of educating people of all ages about Israel and Israeli culture. They teach about Israel through creative programs and challenging discussions, bringing an authentic Israel experience to the community they serve. Their teaching though is not only beneficial to us as we learn about Israel through our experiences with them, but we too are tasked with helping our Shinshin learn about Judaism in  America!

This year we are welcoming Lir Barazani to St. Louis and the B’nai Amoona community. Lir will spend her time between our congregation and United Hebrew. Please make sure to welcome her and share your personal stories with her. Lir will be participating throughout all of our programs this year. In addition, we are hoping that some of the B’nai Amoona families will choose to host her for either dinner, a special experience in St. Louis, or more importantly as a host family for 2-3 months during the year. Please contact Liessa Alperin at Liessa@bnaiamoona.com if you are interested or wish to learn more!

Guy Nachum

Hey everyone!

My name is Guy and I’m 18 years old. I live in Moshav Zekharya (close to Jerusalem). I have one sister, she’s older than me and she’s a solider in the Israeli army. I have 2 parents, we have a family business - a garage which located close to my house. I’m a gymnast since I was 7, this is my passion and I really like to do that! Moreover I like to hang out with my friends, I like to sing, to travel and meet new people.

I’m very excited and absolutely can’t wait to be the next Shinshin in St. Louis at B’nai Amoona.
