The mission of the Social Action Committee is to repair the world, Tikkun Olam. This is the answer I would give to someone who asked me to describe our work while standing on one foot. We run collections and recycling drives for electronics, durable medical goods, and personal care items for the USO. We have a holiday wrap for presents for kids at Carver Center.

We create centerpieces for nursing homes, donate books for needy kids, recycle bikes for needy kids, and collect professional clothing for people applying for jobs. We have recorded the enormous number of hours that Congregation B'nai Amoona volunteers to our synagogue and our community. We educate ourselves during social action Shabbats.

Our Operation Isaiah collects food and sorts it for the Harvey Kornblum Jewish Food pantry, and it is usually the biggest nonperishable food collection of St. Louis synagogues and temples.

Please join us for a project, or suggest one. Our meetings are usually the first Sunday of the month in the Bride's Room.

Helping others not only helps the world, it helps you. Create a miracle, large or small, with the Social Action Committee and put Judaism into action.
