Join Us For High Holy Days - 5782 High Holy Day FAQ
Shalom B'nai Amoona Friends,
High Holy Days are just around the corner and we are looking forward to celebrating B'yachad, together. This year, our programs and Services will be offered both in-person and virtually with experiences for all ages.
Currently, we are finalizing the last few details of our High Holy Day schedule. Once this is done, we will be advertising our High Holy Day schedule and webpage - your hub for the High Holy Days!
In the meantime, we have compiled a "Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)" list below to answer the common questions we've been receiving about High Holy Days. If there are any additional questions you have that are not answered below, please feel free to email them to anita@bnaiamoona.com.
High Holy Day FAQ
Will High Holy Days be held in-person or virtual? Both! All High Holy Day Services taking place in our Main Sanctuary and Guller Chapel will be available in-person as well as virtually on our Facebook Page and BA Livestream Page. Programs and Services not available virtually will be clearly noted on our schedule.
Do we need High Holy Day tickets and can we bring guests? All are welcome to attend BA High Holy Day Services. We will not be issuing tickets, but we are requiring online registration for in-person participation. Guests are also welcome to register and attend Services with a suggested minimum $36 donation per person.
What are your health and safety protocols? Individuals ages 2 and older are required to wear their masks while at B'nai Amoona. This includes wearing a mask when entering, exiting and walking around our building as well as when seated for Services and programs. You may remove your mask when eating, but you must put your mask back on when leaving your table for any reason.
We also ask that you continue to keep a six foot social distance from others and remain with your family pods as much as possible while at B'nai Amoona.
Are you offering High Holy Day babysitting? To keep our congregation and community safe, we will not be offering High Holy Day babysitting. We encourage children of all ages and their families to join us during our engaging Intergenerational Services.
I want to attend Services virtually. Can I borrow a High Holy Day prayer book? Yes. We are working on the details now. Please keep an eye out for more information about borrowing one our our Siddurim (prayer books).
Is there anything else I should know before attending Services? Our Klei Kodesh, staff and our Doctors of B'nai Amoona (DOBA) committee are working closely with one another to create meaningful and safe High Holy Day experiences. We will continue to evaluate our schedule and make adjustments as necessary in accordance to the recommendations of the DOBA committee, the CDC and the Missouri and St. Louis County Health Departments. We appreciate your understanding and flexibility.
High Holy Day "Big Read"
This year's High Holy Day "Big Read" book is The Beauty of What Remains by Rabbi Steve Leder and will serve as the creative fodder for many of our sermons and classes. Please contact amy@bnaiamoona.com to order your copy. Cash or check can be made out to the Rabbi's Discretionary Fund for $18.00 please. We look forward to hearing your reactions to this meaningful chronicle.

A Message from the Midwest Recycling Center & The City of Creve Coeur
On behalf of Creve Coeur, we greatly appreciate Congregation B'nai Amoona for allowing us to use your space to host our annual electronics recycling event. I am happy to report that we collected 20,110 pounds of electronics during Friday's event. That is over 20,000 pounds of recyclable waste being diverted from our landfills! Thank you again!

Volunteer & Be A Part of Mitzvah Corps!
It's time to give a name to those who are and who are going to help: The MITZVAH CORPS.
Additional opportunities are opening up at the front desk. We are adding a smaller shorter shift on the front desk on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays from 3:00 - 5:30 pm. Wednesdays already have a volunteer. There is also a 9:00 am - 12:00 pm three hour afternoon shift on Fridays and a 12:00 - 3:00 pm shift possibly Tuesdays.
Since we have reinstituted the Morning Nosh following Shacharit, we need some folks to set up and take down the Nosh. The primary need now is Sunday mornings, but others can be trained to help out on other mornings as well.
And for those who enjoy cooking, there's always sous chef-ing with Chef Jon on Thursday and Friday mornings.
We invite you to join us at 5:00 pm on Friday, August 6 for our Family Friendly Kabbalat Shabbat Nosh & Schmooze: Israeli Style with our Israeli Shinshin, Gilad Sofer!

HaMakolet - B'nai Amoona's Free Food Pantry
HaMakolet (The Market) is the new food pantry at B'nai Amoona! We understand that these are hard times, and want to support our community. Hamakolet's purpose is to address food insecurity and provide people with an additional outlet to seek assistance. We have food items (including several protein options) and some household goods as well. Our food products include both dry goods as well as refrigerated perishables and are all certified Kosher. Our Jewish tradition teaches us to fight hunger, and we invite you to aid in this Mitzvah.
We are accepting contributions to help fund the program, as well as contributions to provide hot meals through B'nai Appetit (including B'nai Appetit gift cards!). We are also welcoming contributions through gift cards which are distributed through Rabbi Rose's office. Please feel free to reach out to Chef Jon at 314-576-9990 x111 or Amy Maupin at 314-576-9990 x131 with any questions.

STATEMENT ON COVID-19, VACCINATIONS AND COMMUNITY
Jewish tradition teaches “Kol Yisrael Arevim Zeh Bazeh,” meaning that we are all responsible for each other (B.Talmud Shevuot 39a).
Our B'nai Amoona Klei Kodesh is proud to join other local Jewish spiritual leaders in issuing THIS STATEMENT in favor of receiving the COVID-19 vaccine, continuing to wear a mask and practice social distancing as recommended by the CDC and other medical and other public health authorities.
As more people receive the Covid-19 vaccine, we encourage you to download and print the prayers below. We recommend you say them when you receive your vaccination.
