Looking Ahead to Next Shabbat
Shabbat Shirah, February 4 8:30 am: Nosh, 9:00 am: Services begin
B'nai Amoona joins synagogues worldwide to celebrate Shabbat Shirah, the Shabbat of Song! Shabbat Shirah coincides with the Torah reading of Parashat Beshalach in which we chant Moses’ Song at the Sea as well as Miriam’s song, in celebration of crossing the Sea of Reeds after leaving Egypt. The Haftarah, the selection from Prophets that morning, is Devorah’s Song. Hence the name, Shabbat of Song! Please join us!
Shabbat Shirah is generously sponsored by Lester Goldman and Family in loving memory of Judy Goldman (Z"L).
We are also excited for these young family and youth Shabbat experiences. Please take note of the special starting times.

Tu B'Shevat Adult Ed Special Event
Tu B'Shevat Book Talk with Diane Bleyer, Sunday, February 5 Minyan at 6:15 pm / Program and Snacks at 6:30 pm We are thrilled to have author Diane Bleyer with us for a special Tu B'Shevat event and book talk. Bleyer's novel, The Second Chance, centers on a future where climate change has wreaked havoc worldwide and the human race is taking desperate measures to survive.
While this may be a fiction novel, it brings to light the importance of Tikkun Olam (repairing our world) and the reality that individual and community decisions will affect our children’s and grandchildren’s futures as well as those who come after. Diane’s novel is a “call for action” to create awareness of the devastating effects of not taking immediate action to address the issue. The Second Chance is ideal to get readers talking about climate change and thinking about their own role in dealing with the issue. Diane was honored to participate in the 2022 Missouri’s Own Program in the St. Louis Jewish Book Festival.
A limited number of books will be on hand at this event. We invite you to come to Minyan and stay for the program. No registration required.

Sh'ma Speaker Series Presents: Guest lecturer Rabbi Shoshana Cohen Thursday, January 26 from 7:00 - 8:30 pm at Jewish Federation of St. Louis "Who Didn't Know Joseph" – Navigating Questions of Jewish Power and Vulnerability Across Generational Divides
The last century has seen unprecedented lows and highs when it comes to Jewish power. While older Jews today may have memory of Jewish vulnerability in the form of the Holocaust and be able to recall the ecstasy that came with the Six Day war, younger Jews today cannot recall a time when Jews, both in Israel and the US did not have power. How does this difference in perspective affect the way each generation approaches Israel, Judaism and Jewish identity? Join us as we journey to explore this subject.
