Congregation B'nai Amoona Teams Up with Leket Israel Spread the festive joy of Purim, and prevent the needless destruction of healthy food by supporting Leket Israel.
Every $1 provides 6 lbs. of fresh food delivered to those in need on Purim day and Shushan Purim in order to fulfill the mitzvah of Matanot L’evyonim.
Leket Israel, Israel’s National Food Bank, rescues over 60 million lbs. of surplus, high-quality food annually, that otherwise would go to waste, from hundreds of farms, hotels, corporate caterers and IDF bases. The food is distributed weekly to over 265 non-profits feeding 234,000 Israelis of all backgrounds.

Condolences to Judy Heumann's family and all of us that were blessed by her presence. Together with the rest of the world, we mourn the loss of Judy Heumann, the "Mother of the Disability Rights Movement" who was instrumental in much of the legislation that redefined regulations and civil rights for individuals with disabilities. Judy was a force larger than life who never accepted the "status quo". Just as we remember Esther as one who stood up for the rights of the Jews, Judy's vision and actions were essential in ensuring that all people, no matter their needs, are accepted and included. May her memory be for a blessing.
