What is
Tu B'Shevat?

Tu B'Shevat, which is the transliteration of "the fifteenth of Shevat" is honored as the new year for trees or the birthday of trees.

Jews around the world celebrate with a Tu
B'Shevat Seder (festive meal) featuring fruit native to Israel and fruit mentioned in the Torah. It's also a great time to try a new fruit.

A Tu B'Shevat Message From Jewish National Fund's CEO, Russell Robinson

Celebrate Tu B'Shevat by participating in B'nai Amoona's Plant a Tree of Life Program...

The story behind the Plant a Tree of Life Program...

Years ago Gerry and Ron Heller were planting trees in the JNF forest in Israel. They knew that God would nourish the trees for generations. Upon returning home, they discussed establishing a new program for Congregation B'nai Amoona. That program is known as the Plant a Tree of Life - a loving and meaningful program that supports both Israel and B'nai Amoona.

The first 33 trees were planted in memory of our past Senior Rabbis, Hazzans, Shamus, and past presidents of B'nai Amoona. They also memorialize members of Congregation B'nai Amoona who have passed away. In our March bulletin (the January bulletin is already out for distribution) we have decided to list our members, who in passing, will have a tree planted in their name from the Congregational Plant a Tree of Life Program.

Trees may also be "given" honoring births, anniversaries, B'nai Mitzvot, Simchas, weddings, etc., at a cost of $18.00, in order to perpetuate this program inspired by Gerry and Ron Heller. They can be ordered online by clicking HERE or by contacting Gail Armstrong at gail@bnaiamoona.com or 314-576-9990 x126.

Ron and Gerry's message to those who have lost a loved one due to the coronavirus - May your sorrow be short and your fond memories last a lifetime.
