The Importance of Play
We offer a creative, progressive, Reggio-inspired Jewish environment where your child’s individual style of learning will be valued and nurtured. Our Jewish values drive the curriculum, environment and school culture. We recognize that each child has his or her unique needs, interests and passions. Our children are viewed as collaborators: they are competent, curious, inquisitive, unique, and creative.
What is Reggio & Judaism?
-
Reggio-inspired environment uses the classroom as a third teacher. This philosophy allows children to learn through experience and interaction while exploring the world around them.
-
Judaism is one of the three main religions in the United States. It is both a religion and a culture which centers around holidays and traditions.
Every Moment is a Jewish Moment
Jewish values, Jewish holidays, Israeli dancing and culture, are integrated throughout the curriculum every day. Community wide celebrations are scheduled throughout the school year. Hebrew is introduced in the classroom informally through songs, movement and games.
Our Philosophy
Our Jewish values drive the curriculum, environment and school culture. We model and encourage kindness, respect, compassion, confidence and responsibility. Judaism teaches that the formative years of early childhood are vitally important. A child is viewed as a seed that we nurture with the utmost care, since the seed’s every experience will shape and color the quality of its matured self. Judaism underscores the uniqueness of every child. We recognize that each child has his or her unique needs, interests and passions. Our children are viewed as collaborators: they are competent, curious, inquisitive, unique, and creative.
LRECC believes in an experiential and intentional approach to teaching and learning. This philosophy fosters children’s intellectual development as they are encouraged to explore their environment and express themselves through words, movement, drawing, painting, playing and other natural modes of expression. We promote an environment where children can develop the critical thinking and problem solving skills for a successful and meaningful life.
Each year of life brings exciting challenges for children. Our program allows for the child to feel and know that their input and ideas are valued.
We want to encourage the child to seek and explore the vast world around them. Emerging units constantly happen since we believe that the children and their queries are important and can not be ignored. They must be nurtured and given respect. This will foster higher integration of learning and continuous quest and thirst that will hopefully continue throughout life.
The atmosphere is warm and nurturing, filled with lots of exciting “hands-on” learning experiences that change and grow constantly to meet each child’s changing needs. The teacher acts as a guide and facilitator, to ensure that each child experiences a variety of challenging and enjoyable activities.
