New Adult Education Opportunities
Members of the Tribe Melton Class Tuesdays from 7:00 - 8:30 pm, October 5 - November 9 Zoom Only
Facilitated Rabbi Jeffrey Abraham In this short six-session quest, we’ll dive deep into a fundamental, challenging question: “What is the overarching purpose of living Jewishly?” We’ll discuss the responsibilities, pressures, and misconceptions that come with being called “the Chosen People.” Together, we’ll learn the meanings behind rituals like kashrut, symbols like mezuzah, and why Israel matters so much. A deeper understanding of “the Tribe” informs and enriches both the nation’s collective actions as well as individual responses to life’s big questions.

Aleph Bet Hebrew Wednesdays from 7:00 - 8:00 pm, October 6 - May 18 Zoom Only Facilitated by Cantor Sharon Nathanson Join our Hazzan for a weekly beginner's Hebrew class. Together, participants will learn the building blocks of the Hebrew language starting with the Aleph Bet.
Introduction To Judaism: Wednesdays from 8:00 - 9:00 pm beginning October 6 Zoom Only
Facilitated by Rabbi Jeffrey Abraham, This class is taught in partnership with the Louis & Judith Miller Introduction to Judaism Program at American Jewish University. Whether you are new to Judaism or just want to get back to basics, this is a great opportunity to learn with Rabbi Jeffrey Abraham. Come learn or relearn about the basic tenets of being Jewish and our Jewish people. Classes will cover Judaism’s biggest and most inspiring ideas as well as the nuts-and-bolts of daily Jewish living. Including:
History and culture of the Jewish people
Holy days and festivals
Shabbat
Passover
Jewish concepts of God and ethics and more!
This class is $36 which includes the cost of the book. If you are taking this class as part of your conversion process, there is an additional fee. Please speak to one of our Klei Kodesh.
Fresh Eyes on Ancient Teachings: Jewish Spiritual Insights for Contemporary Seekers: Mondays from 5:00 - 6:00 pm, beginning October 4 Zoom Only Facilitated by Rabbi Carnie Shalom Rose This text based class will explore Rabbinic, Mystical and Kabbalistic Texts, Tales and Insights to help navigate our thorny contemporary times. Inyana DeYoma - Issues of the Day, Rapping with Rabbi Rose: Wednesdays from 10:00 - 11:30 am, beginning October 6 Zoom Only Facilitated by Rabbi Carnie Shalom Rose Join our Senior Rabbi for a weekly intimate Schmooze about the most challenging and pressing issues facing postmodern Jews and the members of our own Kehillah. Sex, War & Betrayal: Wednesdays from 7:00 - 8:00 pm beginning October 6 Zoom Only
Facilitated by Rabbi Jeffrey Abraham, Ever wonder what really happens in our Hebrew Bible after the Torah ends and Moses passes away? Come learn with Rabbi Abraham about the tales which occur after the Torah. Three major themes arise during this part of the Tanakh (Hebrew Bible): Sex, War, and Betrayal. Rabbi Abraham will be delving into all three based on the text and commentaries. We will begin with the Book of Joshua. Please bring a Tanakh (Hebrew Bible) (online or in print) to participate in this class.
